The Wedding Checklist that will help you plan
The basics of what to do when in the lead up to your big day.
After Engagement
• Set a date and time of day
• Choose a venue for the ceremony and reception
• If you decide on a Christian wedding, arrange an appointment with a Minister
• Make a guest list according to the size of your ceremony
• Send out invitations, including RSVP date
• Set a budget
• Book a wedding photographer
• Keep all your records on file
6 to months to go
• Arrange a honeymoon destination
• Choose whether to have, and if so who will be your maid of honour, bridesmaids, groomsmen, best man, flower girl or pageboy
• Choose your wedding stationary for thank you notes, menus etc.
• Arrange appointments to find dress
• Arrange suit fittings
• Choose a theme and find a florist/decor company to discuss ideas
• Book a hair and make-up artist
• Find music for the reception whether a DJ or live music
• Ask your venue about catering
• Arrange your transport
• Order cake
• If you feel extra furniture or marquees are appropriate, order them
• Arrange fittings for your bridal party attendants
• Discuss accommodation for your out of town guests
• Shop for your honeymoon items
• Ensure all your legal documents are in order – marriage license, insurance, banks etc
1 month to go
• Make a final guest list from those who have replied to your invitations and let your venue know
• Confirm details with all the suppliers you have booked with
• Arrange your final dress fitting
• Arrange a trial for your hair and make up
• Arrange a rehearsal for your ceremony
Final 2 weeks
• Pick up your wedding dress
• Contact your local newspaper if you would like to make an announcement on your wedding
• Confirm all transport for wedding
• Pack for your honeymoon
• Work out your seating/table arrangements for your reception, discuss with venue
• Arrange with the venue the order of the day, when to have the photographer and DJ in, when speeches will be made etc
• Ensure your speech makers have finished their speeches
The day before
• Finalise arrangements with your groom and parents so everyone understands what will happen and when
• If planning a more traditional wedding, check you have something old, new, borrowed and blue!
• Relax for the rest of the night!
The big day
• Eat well in the morning to keep your energy sustained
• Enjoy yourself and savour the memories!
