Choosing the Right Photographer for your wedding
The photographs from your wedding will help to remember your special day for the rest of your life, so it’s thoroughly important to get the photographer right. Here are our five steps to finding your perfect photographer.
1. Decide upon your style
Look at as many different types of wedding photograph as possible. Aside from the traditional set-up, many people are now choosing more natural, contemporary, documentary styles... it is down to you. When analysing a potential photographer’s work, try to imagine how your own wedding day might look through their lens.
2. Use recommendations
Ask friends and family about photographers they have used in their own experiences and you will get a more useful personal insight into their work.
3. Consider the photographer’s character
Insure the photographer will gel with you and your guests and ask yourself whether you really would wish to spend a whole day in their company. It’s important that the photographer does not stand out like a sore thumb but flows with the general atmosphere.
4. Value
You really do get what you pay for with photos, so you may have to invest with a more expensive photographer than you originally thought about. It may seem like common sense but it is certainly true that the best photographers are more expensive than the others because they are more experienced and more in demand. The amount of money spent on your photos will definitely show, so it is worthwhile paying a little extra.
5. Arranging the photos
Make sure you arrange with the photographer which key moments you would like photographed. Check with them whether you will personally be able to select which photos go in your wedding album or whether it will be the photographer’s responsibility. Also ask who will hold the negatives if they used a traditional camera, or who will hold the master CD if using a digital camera. It is also important to note how long it will be after your wedding until your photos are ready.
