Five Steps to a Fit Wedding Day
Every bride wants to look and feel her best on her wedding day but eating well and partaking in regular exercise can also help with all the stress and fluctuating emotions. If you follow a good routine, you could see results that will last long after the honeymoon as well. Following a few simple rules will not only make you look better but keeping healthy will always help to keep stress at bay.
Here are five effective but realistic tasks that will help you as a bride to feel better fitter, healthier and slimmer for your wedding day.
1. Set Goals
How you go about setting goals is just as important as the goals themselves. They must be realistic and measurable to ensure successful results and avoid disappointment. This way you will easily be able to keep track of your progress and foresee future developments.
2. Decide on your own personalised plan
Figure out a realistic schedule, that you know you can keep to, with days and times that you can stick to. Setting unrealistic goals can only lead to failure and often lower self-esteem than you began with so be reasonable. Then figure out where: at home, gym or outdoors (weather permitting). Once that’s done, consider asking a non-family member to workout with you, to keep you accountable and take your mind off the wedding preparations for a short while.
3. Write down your food intake
Keeping a journal of what you eat throughout the day is the best way to keep yourself accountable. Most individuals who keep food diaries are likelier to eat healthier and commit to their goals, than those that don’t. Taking note of your eating habits is the best way to keep in control of your diet: making sure that you’re eating food which nourishes your body, and ignoring what does not.
4. Commit 3 hours a week of exercise
It doesn’t matter if it is three days for 1 hour per day, or 6 days for 30 minutes, that’s up to you. Work your exercise to fit into your life and to suit you and you’ll be more likely to succeed. A routine that incorporates resistance training and aerobic exercise will create a more streamlined body and will ensure balanced overall fitness.
5. Work hard
With any exercise plan you need to workout, and not just show up. If you can walk or run and hold a conversation then you’re not working out hard enough. Try not to wait longer than 15 seconds between sets. The last 5 repetitions of each set are supposed to burn. The higher the intensity, the quicker the results, and the shorter the workouts will have to be. Keep your heart rate up and the calories will fly off.
With just these few tips and, as always, your own willpower you can give both your health and figure a real boost, perfect for your big day, and ultimately the rest of your life.
